We can upgrade anything in your system . . .
. . . but we will always make sure you know the cost vs. gain associated with the upgrade before you spend your money.
Some upgrades are no-brainers, such as:
| Running WindowsXP with less than 512MB Memory? |
Upgrade to 512MB minimum |
 |
| Want to burn CDs or DVDs, but have no burner? |
Add a CD-RW or DVD-RW drive |
 |
| Want a bigger, better monitor? |
Upgrade to a 17" or 19" LCD |
 |
| Need wireless network access? |
Add a wireless network card |
 |
| Want to eliminate the wires from your desktop? |
Upgrade to cordless keyboard & mouse |
 |
| Want to keep a safe backup of all your data? |
Add an external backup drive |
 |
Other upgrades are not so straightforward:
- CPU upgrades are limited by your motherboard's slot/socket configuration, and are expensive: rarely worth the cost.
- High-end video and sound card upgrades are expensive and can be very disappointing if the rest of your system is not up to the task.
- Operating system upgrades are rarely just a matter of purchasing/loading the latest version of Windows.
- Many new versions of popular programs are designed around the latest hardware components.
As a general rule, if you're thinking about upgrading your system so it will run a high-end application or game, please call us before you spend any money. It may not come down to just tossing in a video card or more memory. System limitations are dictated first by the motherboard, and that is probably not a component you want to include in your upgrade path. Whatever you're trying to run, you'll want to make sure your system well-exceeds all the minimum system requirements.
When you talk to us about a potential upgrade we'll always give you a complete, honest assessment of what it will take to bring your system performance up to the level you need. If its not worth the money or effort, we'll be the first to let you know. CPU power
